"Women’s Balcony,” House paint on wall and windows, Park Ave Armory,
Whitney Biennial, 2008

The Armory’s wall, a flaking military green surface, was the ground for the painting which connected the peripherial view to the façade, closing and opening the view. The painting visually and symbolically
connects the two “female” areas of the Armory- the women’s balcony,
where historically viewer’s were allowed to watch military drills, and the more recently established women’s shelter, which is housed on the Armory’s fourth and fifth floor.
